So what do I want to do?

The most important thing and the main reason is I will be able to game with ‘all me mates’ and be able to play the games. Currently no matter what game I play, everything is on low settings and if I achieve 10 fps them I’m good to go. Half the time I don’t see ‘enemies’ and screen flicker, non rendering of the game etc means I end up logging off.

Secondly and just as important I should be able to stream a wider variety of games via my twitch channel.

Thirdly I have a few games (not many) on Steam that I have purchased in the hope of being able to play it but alas it was money wasted so this means I can get on and try a wider variety on games I thought I’d never play.

So for all you pc addicts out there, here’s my build.

The deal I have means that I also get a Logitech keyboard and mouse. I will use the keyboard but I already own a Roccat Gaming mouse so will use that. I also purchased a 16:9 monitor (22″) so this means for my streams I will no longer have those horrible black bars down the side due to my current monitor dims (1440×900)

The spec for the monitor is: Viewsonic VX2253MH 22″ 5MS 1920×1080 FULL HD LED Wide Monitor, D-Sub, HDMI and Spk

Yeah maybe not the best but as I have already mentioned, cost was a  big issue for me, so to get the complete set up for the price I paid = One Happy Chappie and of course I haven’t listed everything – just what I feel are the major bits you want to know.

I do know some of you out there will be saying – oh you should have got that or WTF have you got that for but I am so happy right now that I can get together with you all and at least be able to see what’s going on and try to join in means I will have only one answer for you:

Deal with it – that’s what I have and am happy with it.

No more World of Warcraft at 20-30 FPS, crap gfx…no more playing games like WarZ where I move like a robot and no more choppy streams

I am hoping to get delivery this Friday (subject to final testing etc)

I guess I can now say to all the BRAVO 2 COMPANY PC players – See you on the battlefield (omg LVL 1 and bear in mind – I’m not a pc gamer as such so don’t expect anything apart from crappy gameplay)

It also means that I will spend hours and hours rebinding everything as I’m a gamer who holds the mouse in his left hand which is one the reason why I’ve never really got on with pc gaming – it’s all too much aggro!!!

I’ve just got my first lvl 90 (Lyllyana – Priest) so grabbed some blue PVP gear and headed off to get killed and killed and killed as I still have some greens and no Epic PVP gear at all (well I now have 3 cheap pieces)

Yes I am dying real quick but hey I need to get the gear but having taken a break I was kinda hoping that the Horde had somewhat improved.

No – they haven’t. I think having done say 30 BG’s we’ve won about 5-7 which is a disaster, especially needing those points it kinda hurts. Maybe me being there is the weak link but here’s the final rating re healing from  one BG we did last night.

I am a newly dinged lvl 90 healer with crap gear so for me to finish top of the healers is somewhat surprising and not acceptable. I have always been in the top 2-3 on the healing – even outscoring some of the Alliance healers and I’m crap at PVP  (but enjoy it)

We managed to not take the relic and they steam rollered us in about 1.5 mins but looking at where horde players were, with the exception of myself and 1 other everyone was still fighting on the beach. I did my usual announcement of ; please can we concentrate on the demo’s’ but alas it fell on death ears.

In an Eye of the Storm, I politely asked us not to go for the flag but get the bases so what do they do. Half our team ran for the flag…at 1-3 flags they are still fighting in the middle and a Holy Pally scremed in chat ‘Why are our 3 healers attempting to capture a base yet all DPS are in the middle’

Yep – Horde really suck within my battlegroup thats for sure. We all know what should be done but for some reason, Alliance play the objective and play it well, whereas Horde seen to think getting top of the leaderboard for kills and dps is what wins them.

I think I have a long grind ahead of me to get fully geared ;(

I’d like to introduce you all to a fantastic server that I have played a few times and one that I think all you Minecrafters out there that I know would love.

This server has just about everything you would want from PVP to basic survival and server events with the added bonus of it being a small personal server but one that is populated and on the up.

I actually met Mike (server owner) one evening when I was streaming some of the DnD stuff that myself and Dan were doing and he invited me to have a look at what he had to offer. I was amazed at what he had set up and I’d like to share this with you all, hoping that some of you will see what he has to offer with a view of making this your ‘main’ MC Multiplayer Server of choice.

I have spoken to a few of the guys who already play there and they are all really helpful, always looking to offer advice so for me personally it feels like ‘home.’

I plan to stream a server tour this Saturday night at 10pm UK time (with Mike giving you all the guided tour) and I really hope that you can join us to see what he has to offer. The stream can be found at my new home hashd.tv/dvotee

I don’t know at this stage if they will compete with Twitch but I want to get in there from the start(ish) with a view to getting myself partnered with them – well one can live in hope can’t they.

I have to say I am very impressed with how they have set the site up and I’m looking for great things from this site and hope they add more asap.

Any follow would be greatfully received…I don’t expect everyone to watch everytime I stream but early viewership is essential for 2 reasons;

I plan on streaming WOW, Minecraft and possibly I may get back into RIFT as another game to stream but I’ll see on that – doing 2 x MMO could prove too much.

I will still be doing the start up music as well as the viewers playlist (link on the top menu) as well as having people in on the stream as well as just myself. The format will be the same as previous streams I have done. I will also run competitions but how I will achieve that is still to be looked at as currently there doesn’t appear to be a way of the random selection of a follower.

With effect from today April 1st you now have to purchase an OBS licence. OK you can tailor it for your specific needs and it currently looks like being a one time payment but I have serious issues with this.

Firstly – they said it would always be free

Secondly – no warning or consultation. Just wham 1st April comes and it’s all changed with no prior warning whatsoever.

Thirdly – Xsplit has improved a lot and they have worked hard on reducing CPU usage. I also feel that yes, whilst Xsplit is more expensive, you can still use a free version and if you do pay you certainly get a lot more for your money.

I’ve trialed Minecraft and WOW and yes I’m dropping a few frames on WOW but I think that’s more to do with my pc as I did drop them with OBS as well. I may decide to purchase a personal licence but let’s see how the streaming goes with my new venture???

Yet again, I have been somewhat absent on both my gaming updates, youtube and twitch and too be honest, it’s so damn annoying but I’ve made the decision that it’s something I enjoy so much I need to find the time. I guess running 2 companies has major downfalls when it comes to ‘spare time’ as I haven’t been getting much but I need to get back to doing what I enjoy so much.

So how was 2012 for Dvotee?

It was actually pretty good I have to say. As you know I started streaming and I have made some really good ‘internet’ friends through that…….you know who you are and whilst I won’t name anyone this is what gaming is all about to me. My youtube uploads have been very sparce and something that needs rectifying ASAP but I’ll go into that more a bit later on.

I did start a minecraft server with DanVonTrap but for one reason or another we both wanted different things and wanted to push the server in different directions so we took a break from that. Dan still has the server and I started my own one so let’s hope I can build it up. I’ve had some help from Gumbo in setting up spawn and whilst it’s not finished, I am really really happy with how it’s turning out. I plan on running it as close to Vanilla as is possible on a survival MP Server so let’s see how it goes. I’m hoping to make an intro vid on it by the end of this week and get that uploaded.

Now for the big news!!!!!!

I quit World of Warcraft in November after playing it for 6 years. I just feel that it’s run it’s course and I was really starting to tire of it. I also couldn’t get to grips with MOP so that made my decision a lot easier but having said that, I am starting to miss it and am currently ‘fighting my demons’ and sticking to my guns of not starting again.

This ties in nicely (or not) with my youtube channel. The most popular videos on my channel are infact my WOW video’s so this begs the question; why stop playing it!?

I have my Learn to Play World of Warcraft series which covers the game from a starters perspective and those 5 videos are my most viewed and even today 1 year after I am still getting comments saying how good people thought it was and comments aplenty.

Youtube stats:

2011: 262 subscribers 54 lost and 15,699 video views

2012:  159 subscribers 79 lost and 27,064 video views

Not bad seeing as I didn’t upload much last year.

This blog has been inactive since October, except for me adding song choices from my stream viewers but even though I’ve not written I am still receiving over 1000 visitors a month with around 10,000 pageviews within that month – WOW I’d love to know where they all come from and that gives me the incentive to start blogging again that’s for sure.

I’ve also started a little forum dvotee.gamerz.co which is really just somewhere central that a few of us can chat easier so that’s been fun setting that up. I also partnered with GameFanShop and have seen a couple of sales on there so thank you to whoever it was who purchased a game there.

So there you have it, a very quick update on last year (ok I know we’re in March already) and let’s see what 2013 brings.

Well the pc has now finally decided that I’ve over worked it too much and all I can manage to play/stream now is Minecraft. No more WOW, Diablo III, WarZ

Due personal reasons (family, child support etc etc) I am in no position to purchase a new rig so it’s been suggested I try to raise some money via donations. I do already have a donation set up via chipin for the stream so seeing as I already have that I may as well try.
